Rep. Sandra Rodgers (Democrat from Dist. 28) has again filed a bill allowing
Arkansas adoptees access to their
original birth certificates.
This bill, numbered HB1057, will be considered next year. The Arkansas
Legislature begins meeting on Jan. 8. Rep. Rodgers pre-filed the bill on
15
Nov., 2000 at 4:18 p.m. The bill "provides that any person adopted in this
state may, upon reaching the age of 21, obtain a copy of the person's
original birth certificate."
In the last legislative session of 1999, Rep. Rodgers filed an identical
bill, which was referred for "study," and never again saw the light
of day.
There is no further information at this time, regarding when hearings might
be held, etc.
